APRIL 23 | Strong sales of iPods and Mac computers drove Apple net income up 36% to $1 billion during its most recent quarter, the company reported Wednesday.
Revenue for the second quarter ending March 31 was up 43% to $7.51 billion.
The company said it sold 10.6 million iPods during the quarter, up 1% from the previous second quarter. Mac sales were up 51% with 2.29 million computers shipped.
The company said it sold 1.7 million iPhones during the quarter and reiterated that it expects to reach its goal of selling 10 million by year-end.
Apple didn’t break out sales of its AppleTV set-top box, which allows consumers to play video downloads on the TV. Nor did it give numbers on sales of movies and TV show downloads on iTunes.
