Cookson to head Sony Pictures Technologies

JAN. 2 | Christopher J. Cookson has been named president at Sony Pictures Technologies.

In this newly created position, Cookson will oversee the development and execution of Sony’s technology policy and processes. He also will act as a technology liaison between other Sony Corp. divisions. He will report to Sony Pictures Entertainment CEO and co-chair Michael Lynton and co-chair Amy Pascal. Sony chief technology officer Mitch Singer will report to Cookson.
Previously, Cookson served as chief technology officer at Warner Bros. Entertainment and president of the Warner Bros. Technical Operations division. He first joined Warner in 1992, rising to CTO in 1999.
Additionally, Cookson holds more than 30 U.S. patents, several of which involve DVD.
