Viz promotes Death Note movie with Hot Topic

MAY 15 | Viz Media has partnered with teen apparel retailer Hot Topic to promote live-action DVD release Death Note.

Death Note T-shirts are for sale at Hot Topic.
Customers who purchase either a Death Note T-shirt or one of the franchise’s animated DVD titles in select Hot Topic stores will score a free ticket to a special big-screen event of the live-action film. Death Note will unfold in theaters on May 20-21 at 7:30 p.m. across 300 U.S. cities.
Hot Topic is committing in-store signage and cross-product merchandising displays at 300 of its outlets to further hype Death Note. The retailer also is singling out the title on its Web site.
Based on the supernatural mystery manga by the same name, the live-action Death Note follows an outstanding student who discovers a deadly notebook.
The live-action Death Note DVD will be released widely at retail on Sept. 16.
“Hot Topic is an ideal strategic retail partner for Viz Media, and we’re extremely excited to deepen our relationship with them to support the U.S. premiere of the Death Note live-action feature,” said Lauren Rozek, director of retail development at Viz Media.
